I’m not a yogi but I do like to practice yoga a couple times a week. I’ll admit that it was pretty hard to get into at first because I prefer more active workouts but after some time I realized the impact it has on calming me down and relaxing me.

HIIT workouts are a great way to relieve stress while yoga workouts have always been a great way for me to get back to me.

On the surface, yoga doesn’t seem like it does much for you outside of improving flexibility but yoga has so many benefits for your body.

One of them is how it improves digestion.

Crazy, right?

I didn’t believe it at first but there are some yoga poses that actively help to improve your body’s digestive functions.

In this post, I want to share with you 10 yoga poses that I’ve found help to improve my digestion and keep things moving along as they should.

10 Yoga Poses to Reduce Belly Bloat

It should go without saying but I’m going to say it anyways. Don’t push yourself so hard that you end up hurting yourself doing these poses. If you are just getting started with yoga then you might want to do these 11 yoga poses for beginners.

However, if you were born with a Gumby skeleton then, by all means, tear these poses up.

1. Wind-Relieving Pose

You might think this is the fart pose due to its name and you wouldn’t be wrong. This pose helps to stimulate the nerves that help with the elimination of gas that causes bloating.

2. Downward Facing Dog

This pose helps to realign your body and reset your digestive system.

3. Extended Puppy Pose

This poses is a combination of Downward Dog and Child’s Pose, and it allows gravity to open up your heart and stretch your belly.

4. Spinal Twist

This pose does a great job of soothing your tum tum. That’s your tummy which is also your stomach which is also your belly.

5. Standing Forward Bend Pose

This pose is great for relieving tension in your neck.

6. Corpse Pose

This pose allows your body to stretch out and remain open and uncramped. Why is this important? Because it allows your digestive system to have room to operate at its optimal potential.

7. Cat-Cow Pose

The weirdest name out of all of the poses in this list but that doesn’t make it any less valuable.

8. Child’s Pose

One of the most popular yoga poses and the favorite of lazy people everywhere, Child’s Pose helps to calm your body and mind which promotes proper digestion.

9. Bridge Pose

This pose does a great job of compressing your digestive organs and encouraging blood flow throughout your digestive system.

10. Legs Up the Wall Pose

It seems like they had to get real creative with the name for this pose. This pose helps your body transition into a digestive mode.
